Family portrait

This painting was created in the courtyard of the Shelter, thanks to the beautiful early June weather. Thanks to its location in a common area, rather than the room we usually use for workshops, many women stopped to watch and ask questions as they passed.
One woman in particular sat on a chair, watching and waiting, until a young woman told me, “She’s waiting because she wants to be portrayed, too.”
And so, by the end of the workshops, a new participant joined us, just for one day.
For me, this is the greatest satisfaction: being able to involve even those who initially didn’t want to take part in the course but then changed their minds, those who decide to give it a try, to let their image become a testimony of their passage.
